The creative visionary returns to the brand’s fundamentals as he continues to explore the cultural spaces and digital dispersion that characterize the 21st century in the latest Off-White™ “Homecoming” collection.
“It’s a return to the fundamentals of Off-White. And I also wanted to make a collection that had an American sensibility…. As an indigenous African, I explored my vision of an American perspective, and how we can link it to the first peoples of America” explained Kamara, who pulled it off by introducing denim tropes in western tailoring alongside silhouettes reminiscent of Ray Petri’s style through his London sensibility.
At Off-White Resort 2024 lace-trimmed stretch knit vests were paired with garments that accentuated the feminine figure, while Kamara kept the jacket and trouser combination for the men’s ensembles. The designer also included a nod to Michael Jordan with the number 23 designed in stripes and printed on the pieces in honor of the brand’s recent collaboration with the Chicago Bulls, which had triggered his brand identity.
The designer plays with layering by combining trench coats and oversized denim jackets that reinterpret the iconic four arrows logo. A Manhattan skyline design with a hot air balloon in front decorates a side-zip knit sweater. Kamara continues to “explore beautiful clothes you want to wear” while keeping with Virgil Abloh’s fundamentals.
