The release caught by surprise both experts and fans of both firms in the prestigious event held in Florence.
As a special guest during the 2019 edition of Pitti Uomo, Givenchy took the opportunity to reveal his exclusive new collaboration with the Onitsuka Tiger brand, presenting it on the runway on June 12.
A fusion of Japanese leather know-how and haute couture savoir-faire, this long-term collaboration marks a start for the Onitsuka Tiger brand, which had never before worked with fashion-luxury brands. It is also the first time for Givenchy, which has never collaborated with a shoe manufacturer worldwide.
As shown on the runway, the collaboration Givenchy x Onitsuka Tiger “MEXICO 66™ GDX” presents 2 variations of the heritage model NIPPON MADE ‘MEXICO 66™‘. A white version that includes the ‘Onitsuka Tiger stripes’ and the word ‘GIVENCHY’, and a black version with details of Givenchy in red and white. Both models include a small distinctive back tab of this model with the inscriptions ‘Givenchy – Onitsuka Tiger’.
In retail, the packaging designed for the occasion emphasises this special collaboration, as well as the campaign images that combine dynamic sports-inspired postures to highlight the mix of cultures.
Available now at Onitsuka Tiger stores in Berlin and London for women and men at a price of 450€.
