Oscars 2025: The complete list of winners

The Oscars 2025 have delivered their verdict, and they have done so with a jaw-dropping decision. Anora, Sean Baker’s brilliant contemporary reinterpretation of Pretty Woman, emerged as the night’s big winner, taking home five coveted statuettes. An overwhelming triumph that has left behind the big favourite, Emilia Pérez, who despite starting with 13 nominations, only managed to win two awards. In a particularly fragmented edition, without a dominant film like Oppenheimer last year, the surprise came in the form of Anora being crowned at the top of the 97th Oscars, an outcome that, until just a few weeks ago, was unthinkable.

The gala began with a display of pure talent, as Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo took to the stage to perform their nominees The Wizard of Oz and Wicked, respectively. But what truly defined the night were the moments of pure unpredictability. From the untimely kiss between Adrien Brody and Halle Berry in the middle of the red carpet to the unexpected interlude of the presenter, who issued a live warning to Karla Sofía Gascón, or the unfiltered statement about Antonio Banderas: ‘not knowing how to give pleasure to a woman is the most difficult role of his career’. An evening where expectations were dismantled, and surprises took over every corner of the event. A ceremony that was experienced as a whirlwind of emotions, where every moment seemed to defy the rules and rewrite the history of contemporary cinema.
