Paloma Wool has paraded in Paris with leading ladies such as Ella Emhoff, and brings sports-inspired garments combined with her signature dreamy basics.
The Barcelona-based brand defines itself as a project about photography, clothing and other experiments. When we think of it, its basics and knitted pieces come to mind, which have created a new experimental aesthetic and have managed to attract a large audience in these nine years of career. It was one of the first firms to defend clothing without seasonality and the extinction of sales, being also 100% digital and producing locally. With their World Tour project they have traveled to New York, Paris, Copenhagen or Los Angeles among other places to bring their pieces to their loyal customers through pop-ups.
The fashion show of their Fall/Winter 2023 collection opened with a performance directed by Carlota Guerrero in which the models simulated the atmosphere of the changing rooms, without clothes and with hair clips. On the runway we saw sportswear combined with more sober pieces, as in the red and white striped sweater look modeled by Ella Emhoff, daughter of President Kamala Harris and fashion designer.
The collection features the brand’s signature knitwear, as well as wool tops with hoods and 90s dresses. It includes garments with transparencies and openings, but quite far from hypersexualization. Low-rise jeans and cargo pants reflect the eighties style that we have already seen in Paloma Wool. A trend that adorns several of the looks are low-heeled ballerinas, as well as seductive leather boots and asymmetrical belts.
Paloma Lanna, founder of the brand, says that she always looks for a balance between feminine and masculine in her creations, and admits that it is important for her that the outfits look as if they have not had too much preparation behind them.
