The members of the jury thus wished to recognise the creative’s trajectory since his first catwalk show in 2016, giving value to “the work of a creator who has managed to assert his own vision within the fashion design sector, giving a voice to inclusion, diversity and advocating new formats of artistic expression through a disruptive proposal”.
Since it began its journey in the fashion sector, Palomo – led by creative director Alejandro Gómez Palomo – has managed to consolidate itself as one of the most outstanding creators in Spain, projecting Spanish talent and also earning international respect and support from the press and the industry beyond our borders.
Having worked with numerous personalities from the world of culture, music and entertainment – Madonna, Harry Styles, Beyoncé and Rosalía, to name but a few – and with an unmistakable “irreverent, baroque and audacious” aesthetic that has not gone unnoticed by top fashion institutions such as the LVMH Group or the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, Alejandro G Palomo has managed to transcend established genres and make fashion an instrument of expression and defence of diversity, making him the catalyst for a new generation of creatives at home and abroad.
“I am sincerely proud of our track record. Mine and that of my team. We put a lot of passion and make a lot of sacrifices to be able to develop this, our profession. It is a daily struggle in which we put everything we have. The road is beautiful but not easy. This kind of pat on the back helps you and gives you extra confidence. They remind you that you are doing well and that your country and your culture somehow feel the same way,” says Alejandro G Palomo.
“The fact that we have been able to contribute something to the culture, beyond the clothes, is a tremendous satisfaction. To think that our work has given rise to a certain type of boy being able to experience another type of freedom makes me feel fulfilled”, he adds.
