PANGAIA, focused on sustainability, has connected with Zellerfeld to create a sleek 3D printed minimalist sneaker.
The new ABSOLUTE SNEAKER is an on-demand 3D printed sneaker made from a unique material that can be melted down and reused at the end of its useful life, as explained by PANGAIA. The brand continues to focus on creating sustainable garments in a conscious way, and in this case connects with Zellerfeld to launch its new model.
The minimalist laceless sneaker is made from thermoplastic polyurethane, and comes in black and sand colors. PANGAIA is also giving away a $30 voucher to those who return the shoe at the end of its useful life, in keeping with its commitment to sustainability.
“Zellerfeld circumvents the traditional challenges of footwear development with its patented printing system that allows for the creation of a mono-material, circular, on-demand product that is both durable and comfortable,” explained Craig Smith, director of research and development at PANGAIA. “This partnership with Zellerfeld focuses on our waste reduction research pillar, due to the efficiencies gained through this innovative printing process that supports our exploration into process innovation within PANGAIA. The goal is to combine material and process innovation in a way that transforms the typical product supply chain.”
On the other hand, Zellerfeld CEO and co-founder Cornelius Schmitt said in a statement, “With the launch of our collaboration with PANGAIA, I couldn’t be more excited to see major brands embrace the 3D printing revolution. With the ABSOLUTE SNEAKER, PANGAIA has created a shoe that not only prioritizes sustainability, but is also the lightest and fastest to print, setting a new standard for what is possible in printed footwear.”
The shoe is set to release on April 13 priced at $250 USD.
