This 8 March marks International Women’s Day, which commemorates women’s contribution to history, culture and society. That’s why we’ve put together a list of films that tell inspiring stories.

Our top picks include biopics about iconic women such as artist Frida Kahlo and surfer Bethany Hamilton. We also highlight titles such as Hidden Figures, a story of three African-American women at NASA or the 13 Roses, 13 women who were shot during Franco’s regime.

In addition, we have also included different animated films such as Princess Mononoke, Mulan, Brave or Persepolis. We have incorporated the documentary Homecoming, which offers an intimate look at Beyoncé in 2018 or I Am Greta, which highlights the environmental career of Greta Thunberg.
