The Daelim Museum in Seoul is hosting fangirl, the Canadian photographer Petra Collins’ first solo museum exhibition. The show features more than 500 pieces, including photography, video, installations, archival material, and editorial projects. It offers a broad overview of her creative world.
Collins is known for a style that combines opulence, cinematic elements, and surrealism with the intensity of youth. She has developed a visual identity that is immediately recognisable. Self-taught, she began sharing her work online at the age of 15. Now she symbolically returns to these beginnings, acknowledging the community of followers that helped propel her career.
Fangirl showcases the evolution of Petra Collins’ visual language. From early series such as 24hr Psycho, to portraits of figures from music and fashion, and stills from her most recent music videos. Her work ranges from intimate self-portraits in her home to images of celebrities. It reflects a generational aesthetic code that unites softness and strength, sensitivity and presence.
