Pharrell Williams to release audiovisual project with Gabriel Moses

A couple of days ago Gabriel Moses announced on his Instagram the release of a film alongside Pharrell Williams in the fall of this year. As we can see in the trailer, ‘All Day I Dream About Sport’ dives into the essence of human connection through West African culture, exploring themes of sports, culture, life and death.

‘All Day I Dream About Sport’ is a film set in the city of Dakar. The story begins with a poignant scene showing life in its purest state, captured through a 3D ultrasound, symbolizing the beginning of existence. This visually stunning introduction prepares the viewer for a journey that explores the various stages of life, all within the cultural context of Dakar.

The film progresses through scenes that celebrate childhood, with images full of energy and vitality. Boys run through fields, jump between squares on the sidewalk and girls dance in tutus, showing the innocence and joy of the early years of life. These scenes highlight the beauty of youth and the influence of local culture in shaping individuals.

As the story progresses, the focus shifts to the world of boxing, symbolizing the struggle and discipline that are part of personal growth. The film shows the vulnerability and strength of the boxers, who embody the resilience and determination needed to face life’s challenges. This segment reflects how culture and social structure shape people throughout their lives.

At the end of the visual, ‘All Day I Dream About Sport’ offers a reflection on life and death, with a scene set in a hospital, where an elderly man revisits his memories. The film concludes with the image of a coffin being carried through the streets of Dakar, symbolizing the cycle of life. The work is a celebration of the human spirit and of sport as a metaphor for the struggle for survival.

While the film, produced by Division, officially releases at the end of the year, there will be special screenings later this month (Friday, August 29 to Sunday, August 31) at 9 p.m. at Rue Rambuteau, 50, in Paris.
