Four months after its highly anticipated release, MUSIC, Playboi Carti’s latest full-length effort, has officially surpassed the million-unit sales mark, becoming the first rap album of 2025 to reach that milestone. With this feat, the album becomes eligible for platinum certification by the RIAA, although no official confirmation has been issued yet.
Released in March 2025, MUSIC represents Carti’s recording return after a five-year hiatus and is accompanied by a cast of high-caliber collaborations: Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Kendrick Lamar, Jhené Aiko, Skepta, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Ty Dolla Sigil, and Young Thug are all part of the ambitious project. The album, announced just 48 hours before its release, was followed by a trail of rumors and delays dating back to 2021, when the first signs of its existence began to circulate.
With MUSIC, Carti not only reaffirms his presence in the contemporary music scene, but also consolidates his status as one of the most enigmatic and disruptive sound architects of his generation.
