Polo Ralph Lauren launches a capsule collection inspired by Oak Bluffs, a coastal town in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. The area is known for its historical significance within the African-American community. More than just an aesthetic exercise, the line celebrates a century of collective memory, summer tradition, and a strong sense of belonging.
The collection builds on the brand’s ongoing collaboration with historically Black institutions such as Morehouse and Spelman Colleges, offering a reinterpretation of the preppy style. It features embroidered twill jackets, sun-faded jumpers, and nautical garments, along with academic symbols organically woven into the overall proposal.
The line also incorporates graphic elements that pay tribute to the mascots of both institutions, the Maroon Tiger and the Jaguar, reinforcing the ties that unite their student communities with Oak Bluffs, a longtime gathering place for alumni. “This collection is more than a charming seaside town; it is the story of the American dream,” Ralph Lauren stated.
The collection will be available from 24 July through Polo Ralph Lauren’s website, select stores, and on the campuses of Morehouse and Spelman Colleges.
