Beats has just unveiled one of its most eagerly awaited updates after five years of research and development.
With a completely revamped design and cutting-edge technology, Powerbeats Pro 2 is designed to offer more than just sound quality and comfort. They come as a more efficient and comfortable model without sacrificing battery life, featuring a 33% smaller housing than the previous model and a battery life of up to 45 hours. They’re also equipped with Apple’s H2 chip, which means they’re on par with the AirPods Pro 2 and integrate seamlessly with all its devices.
But the real revolution comes in the form of the heart rate monitor, which is built into each earbud. They are inspired by the technology of the Apple Watch and incorporate optical LED sensors that measure blood flow by pulsing more than 100 times per second. This allows athletes to get real-time data on their performance, an unprecedented breakthrough in sports gadget development. They also feature full compatibility with leading fitness apps such as Peloton, Runna, Nike Run Club and more.
Active noise cancellation (ANC) has been significantly improved, following criticism of the previous model. Beats claims that this new system is the best they have ever produced, improving on even their most premium over-ear headphones. What’s more, they incorporate a transparency mode and an adaptive equaliser to automatically adjust the sound according to the environment.
With an IPX4 rating, the new Powerbeats Pro 2 are designed to withstand intense workouts in the rain, heat or sweat, although they are not considered completely waterproof.
Available in new colours such as Electric Orange or more classic versions such as Jet Black, Quick Sand or Hyper Purple from the official Beats website and Apple stores.
