Miuccia Prada and Prada by Raf Simons enter a new era, heading into outer space for their Holiday 2023 “Privatesphere” campaign.
Prada Holiday 2023’s “Privatesphere” campaign embraces the magical season ahead through an impromptu journey into one’s personal sphere. Willy Vanderperre’s photographs immortalise the four international stars Maya Hawke, Damson Idris, Louis Partridge and Kim Tae-Ri in an interpretation of themselves, each within their own sphere. The concept is as literal as it is ideological: the sphere in which they sit becomes a flying capsule or private spaceship, a metaphorical vehicle to abstract and intimate destinations.
Behind them, the spatial landscape sketches a fantastic imaginary and merges past with future, memory with expectations. The chequered marble floor, the same as that of the historic Prada boutique opened in 1913 in Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, extends into deep space. At once introverted and extroverted, this “private sphere” is the ultimate celebration of escapism: without the need to physically move, thought boldly propels itself into unknown places, travelling to the ends of the universe.
