Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons returned to Milan Fashion Week with a proposal they describe as an “overload of contemporary culture.” Prada SS26 explores contemporary elegance through contradiction and excess.
The Fondazione Prada, with its glossy orange floor, hosted a show in which the garments were presented as an “analysis of dress,” in dialogue with an unknown future.
The Prada SS26 collection combines short-sleeved boiler suits with scrunched silk gloves. Midi skirts and voluminous dresses mix prints and textures. Military shirts are reinterpreted with open cardigans and suspended skirts. There are also bejewelled dresses, pocketed hot pants, oversized trench coats, loosened bras, bubble skirts, and leather bags, all in a pastel palette.
The result is a loud and contradictory proposal.
