Named Mi Shang, the culinary proposal not only marks a new stage for the House but also expands its incursion into the world of sensory experiences where fashion, art and gastronomy merge in a sublime way.

Inspired by Wong Kar Wai‘s most iconic works and located in the historic Rong Zhai residence, a Shanghai building built in 1918, Mi Shang will be Prada‘s first stand-alone restaurant in Asia. After a painstaking six-year renovation, the space becomes an homage to desire and melancholy, two recurring themes in the acclaimed director’s films, such as “In The Mood for Love”.
The atmosphere of the place has been designed to transport diners into Wong‘s cinematic imagination through a décor full of contrasts and mirrors that reflect obsession and nostalgia.
The first floor of the Rong Zhai will house the restaurant, a space that will become Prada‘s cultural epicentre in the region, hosting a variety of artistic activities. As it did with its collaboration with Wes Anderson in the Bar Luce of the Fondazione Prada in Milan, the Italian house seeks to continue expanding its creative frontiers and to consolidate itself as the definitive meeting point for contemporary art.
Mi Shang will open its doors on 30 March and bookings will be available from 29 March.
