There is only one item that exceeds this figure and that is the Birkin Faubourg, also by Hermès, which was sold in May 2022 for a staggering €158,000.
The leading second-hand luxury goods platform is pleased to announce a new transaction that continues to write its history. As consumers’ growing commitment to the environment meets consumers’ strong desire to own archival pieces, resulting in massive growth in the second-hand industry.
Hermès, in particular, is attracting increasing interest on marketplaces such as Vestiaire Collective, while access to the brand on the first-hand market is becoming increasingly inaccessible. As a result, since 2022, the number of the brand’s bags offered for sale on VC has increased by more than 50%. In the last six months, searches for vintage items have doubled and in the last year they have tripled.
Launched in 2013, the Kelly 32 Himalaya features the recognisable ombré hue so characteristic of Nile crocodile skin. During the sale process, Vestiaire Collective‘s dedicated team carefully analysed every detail of the bag to verify its authenticity before finalising the sale.
“We are extremely proud to have facilitated the sale of this exceptional Hermès piece. This milestone, following the record sale of a Birkin last year, reflects our commitment to circular fashion while highlighting the premium, trusted and premium experience offered by our unique Consignment Service,” says Sophie Hersan, fashion director and co-founder of VC.
