Rakuten Kobo launches its first eReaders with colour screens

The new Kobo Libra Colour and Kobo Clara Colour are two devices that open up a new era of digital reading experience.

Kobo Libra Colour and Kobo Clara Colour offer a subtle colour palette that retains the benefits of E Ink technology, now with an optimised colour E Ink Kaleido™ 3 display. Reading enthusiasts will be able to fill their digital bookshelves wherever they go thanks to their ability to store thousands of books, long battery life, 24/7 access to the Kobo Bookstore and OverDrive integration. The new eReaders are also equipped with Bluetooth® wireless technology, allowing access to thousands of Kobo audiobooks.

The Kobo Libra Colour is Kobo’s most affordable Stylus compatible ereader. This new model, together with the Kobo Stylus 2 , allows handwriting, underlining and note-taking, all in colour, making it perfect for all readers who also do journaling, make notes in the margins or decorate pages BookTok’er style. Building on the success of the Kobo Sage and Kobo Elipsa 2E handwriting experiences, the new Kobo Libra Colour brings Kobo’s patented pen writing and eBook annotation to the popular 7″ format. Kobo Clara Colour also includes colour highlighting with the touch of a finger.

Complementing the new experience, Kobo Libra Colour and Kobo Clara Colour have been designed with sustainability in mind, adding new repairability features such as easier battery replacement, as well as the use of recycled and salvaged plastics before they reach the sea. The Notebook SleepCover for Libra Colour is available in new colours including butter yellow, candy pink and cayenne red. Made from fully recycled materials, the Notebook SleepCover for Libra Colour is also produced in an eco-conscious way.

For Kobo readers who prefer a black and white e-reading experience, Kobo also introduces its new Kobo Clara BW, an upgraded version of the classic 6″ black and white eReader, equipped with the latest E Ink Carta 1300 display, an improved processor, increased storage, water resistance and bluetooth for enjoying Kobo audiobooks among other new features.
