The iconic designer had been off the official New York calendar since September 2019, when he launched his exclusive supper club, Ralph’s Club, on Wall Street. On Friday night, he presented his latest line, making it one of the most anticipated moments at New York Fashion Week.
Lauren’s long-awaited return took place in what appeared to be a warehouse in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which was transformed into a rustic artist’s loft decorated with elegant chandeliers, draped fabrics and wood textures.
“My Spring 2024 women’s collection is a new kind of romantic: fresh and sophisticated,” Lauren said. Artfully faded denim preceded charming floral prints, while elegant black and gold dresses brought a luxury that stayed true to Lauren’s American style. In the designer’s words, the collection reflected “the stories of the woman I design for, whose individuality and artistic spirit are a canvas for her own self-expression.”
High-end daywear was fluidly transformed into elegant evening attire, and contrasting combinations were essential in many ensembles, such as iconic brand polo shirts that were paired with tulle skirts, and baggy pants that were fitted at the ankles and paired with baseball caps.
Supermodel Christy Turlington closed the show in a dazzling gold gown with cape and one shoulder exposed, exuding a strong sense of confidence that characterizes the entire collection.
