Since landing in the Ralph Lauren universe in 1990 as a birthday gift, Polo Bear has evolved far beyond being a simple plush toy. Today, he is a key figure in the brand’s identity. His unmistakable poise and immaculate wardrobe have turned him into a true style icon and an essential part of the label’s visual storytelling.
Now, the American fashion house presents its first-ever animated short with the bear as the undisputed lead. The Polo Bear Chronicles: Operation Black Tie runs for six minutes, taking us on a nocturnal mission. The elegant protagonist faces an art heist, wanders through moonlit galleries, completes side quests, and concludes his adventure at an exclusive polo match on a private estate.
The trailer opens in a quiet Manhattan townhouse. Here, jazz lingers in the air, tailoring is sharper than a blade, and a bear with a taste for the finer things resides. His unlikely companion is a streetwise pigeon. Together, they set out on “the most sophisticated art recovery of the century”, travelling from a brownstone to a seaside villa, from polo matches to lavish galas. All without uttering a single word. Because when the lights go out and the art goes missing, there’s only one name on everyone’s lips: Polo Bear.
The trailer is now available online, and the full release of The Polo Bear Chronicles: Operation Black Tie will premiere on YouTube this Thursday, 14 August.
