Rauw Alejandro continues his unstoppable momentum. Since his emergence on the scene, he has defied labels, breaking boundaries between genres, and bringing Latin music to territories that once seemed distant. Now, the Puerto Rican artist adds another achievement to his list of awards and records: he will be honored with the 2025 Hispanic Heritage Award in the Vision category.

The recognition comes from the Hispanic Heritage Foundation, an organization that since 1988 has celebrated those who inspire Latin culture in the United States and beyond. The tribute will take place on September 4, 2025, at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C., with national broadcast on PBS. “Rauw Alejandro embodies the essence of the Vision Award: fearless creativity, authenticity in every movement, and a perspective that transcends borders,” says Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of the HHF.

And as if that weren’t enough, Rauw took the opportunity to reveal the title of his next musical chapter: “Cosa Nuestra: Chapter 0.” “Cosa Nuestra is my way of representing my island, my culture, and my people, wherever they are. Every detail, the beats, the visuals, the dances… everything connects with our Puerto Rican roots and with other sister cultures.”

“We have marked the history of music and we will continue to do so. I am proud to continue elevating our story from a special place. Thank you for this Vision Award; it is an honor to join the list of creatives who have received this recognition. This is just the beginning… with ‘Chapter 0’ I want to showcase not only Puerto Rico, but the complete essence of the Caribbean,” declared the artist.

The path that has led him here is as solid as his artistic vision. His debut, Afrodisíaco (November 2020), was certified 6× Platinum by the RIAA, earned him his first GRAMMY® nomination for Best Urban Music Album, and placed him on the Latin GRAMMY® radar for Best New Artist.

In 2021, Vice Versa debuted at #1 on the Billboard and Apple Music Latin charts, and was selected by The New York Times, Rolling Stone, NPR, and Billboard as one of the best albums of the year. By then, it was already clear: Rauw wasn’t following trends, he was creating them.

The industry respects him, and his collaborations confirm it: Pharrell Williams, Shakira, Selena Gomez, Bad Bunny, Romeo Santos, Laura Pausini… names that, beyond the hype, show that Rauw is capable of moving between musical worlds without losing his identity.

His fifth album, Cosa Nuestra (November 2024), was another coup: a historic global debut at #1 on Apple Music and Spotify, #1 on Billboard’s Latin Albums, and #6 on the Billboard 200. An achievement reserved for very few Latin artists. Billboard described it as “an ambitious album with roots in New York and a clear narrative.” Its tracks include collaborations that bridge generations and styles, but with Rauw always at the center, updating the tropical sound for the present and the future.

This recognition places him alongside a list of icons who have received the Hispanic Heritage Award, an award born in the White House and supported by more than 40 national institutions. It’s not just applause for their achievements; it’s a reminder that Latin culture expands with artists who understand that art isn’t just entertainment: it’s identity, it’s history, it’s soft power.

Rauw Alejandro is preparing for the start of his European tour.
