The Grandvalira ski resort hosted a new edition of one of RedBull’s most entertaining events.
This is the most fun race of the season, which winter sports lovers never want to miss. A unique event where participants show up in their most iconic costume and with their best sense of humour, as well as their skiing and snowboarding skills.
The El Tartet sector witnessed the latest edition of Red Bull Homerun, with more than 300 daredevils who came to the Andorran enclave to take part in this explosive experience. Among them were skateboarding icon Danny León, surfing star Laura Coviella, windsurfing star Liam Dunkenberk, three-time skimboarding world champion Lucas Fink and Basque pelota player Iñaki Osa Goikoetxea.
Queralt Castellet did not want to miss the special meeting either, although she had to remain in the audience as she is currently recovering from a major injury. “I couldn’t miss it, it’s the most fun race,” she said.
Marc Beascoechea won first prize in the skiing category, while veteran Jamie Philipp took first prize in the snowboarding category for the third year in a row. “I’ve been competing since I was 13 years old. When I was 20 I was very used to winning and now that I’m 42 I’m excited to get on the podium in what may be the last competitions I ever do in my life. Next year I will repeat”, he declares.
Julia Bellsolá, professional skier, won the women’s gold medal and celebrated with her friend Ana Amor, also a snowboarding champion.
But there were also awards for the best costumes, with Carla Anguita and Pepa Beltrán being the most original with their fly costume. Both made their debut at the Red Bull Homerun and of course they will be back next year.
