Although red lips are a classic, since 2023 they have taken a relevant role in the makeups of the experts, as they have been key in the looks of the fashion shows of brands such as Chanel or Mugler or on the red carpets such as those of the Oscars 2023. In addition, Trendo, the consumer trends agency focused on the Mexican market, revealed this summer that ‘piquín red’ will dominate in 2024.
Just look at Diesel and Bottega Veneta who launched a collection of bags in shades of red, some more orangey, i.e. Piquín. Other brands such as Alexander McQueen, Saul Nash, Botter, Valentino, Gucci, Vetements, Lanvin or Marine Serre, also used the colour of the year in their collections. Armani, Heaven, Coperni and Ottolinger used it in accessories and footwear.
If the ‘piquín’ shade is not the one that suits you best, don’t worry, there is an infinite range of reds for you. Just make a note of these tips to keep your lips intact. Step 1: exfoliate your lips to remove dead skin; Step 2: apply lip balm for extra hydration; Step 3: lip liner, either with the same shade or a different one for a Y2K look; Step 4: apply lipstick or liquid lipstick and then a gloss if you want extra shine; Step 5: setting spray.
