Building on the construction of utilitarian-inspired silhouettes, the brands present a second capsule that marries Chitose Abe’s signature tailoring materials with Carhartt WIP’s classic workwear patterns.
This collection, which debuted on sacai’s spring-summer 2024 runway in June last year, is about to take streetstyle by storm with its sartorial mix of deconstructed ensembles that are often intentionally designed inverted.
The hybridisation of aesthetic-functionality in sacai’s inventive styles is also dressed up in a contrasting colour palette of ecru tones ranging from black and grey to earth tones and greens.
The SS24 range includes reversible jackets that evoke Carhartt’s iconic WIP fashion with reversible panels, while its standard jumpsuits attach to pleated skirt-style trousers.
Overall, utilitarian details take on a strong presence throughout the pieces through the storage provided by the multi-pocket coats, the adjustable straps of the versatile jumpsuits, and the pull-on waistband hardware of the shorts. Long-sleeved T-shirts and T-shirts with brand iconography, and accessories such as a selection of collaborative logo-stamped caps finish off the capsule.
The second sacai x Carhartt WIP collection will launch on 2 February in mainland China and Hong Kong. A global drop will have to wait until later.
