The past few weeks have been filled with reports about the departure of several stars from Scooter Braun’s management.
Demi and Braun’s reps have confirmed the “amicable” split between the singer and her former manager, though rumors surrounding Justin and Ariana’s alleged departures have yet to be made official.
One theory circulating posits that, not that the artists are leaving Braun, but that he is repositioning himself to focus on his new role as CEO of HYBE America, a position he assumed in 2021 alongside co-CEO Lenzo Yoon. In addition, Braun sold Ithaca Holdings, the parent company of SB Projects, to HYBE America for a reported $1.05 billion. HYBE is headquartered in South Korea and is behind the rise of prominent K-pop groups and solo artists such as BTS and SEVENTEEN.
Other reports have also speculated that Braun has been exploring the possibility of stepping down from his role as manager for some time. This change would not be completely unexpected, as both Justin and Ariana have scaled back their new project releases in recent years. It is possible that the artists will continue to work with SB Projects but, since Braun has been focusing on HYBE, they will be under different managers within the company.
“All of Scooter Braun’s clients are under contract and negotiations have been ongoing for several months as Scooter steps into his expanded role as CEO of HYBE America,” an anonymous source close to the matter shared with Variety. “People are spreading rumors based on what they know, but they are misplaced. Scooter’s team at SB Projects is still managing both Justin and Ariana as they work out what this new structure looks like.”
Although there has been no official statement from Braun on the actual situation, he has taken to social media with a humorous tone towards the rumors.
On the other hand, the alleged thief at the British Museum is a well-known curator.
