Seagate will launch 24TB hard drive next year

Seagate recently announced that it will use heat-assisted magnetic recording technology (HAMR) for its upcoming hard drives.

Seagate recently announced that it will use heat-assisted magnetic recording technology (HAMR) for its upcoming hard drives. This new technology greatly reduces file size but will have a higher price tag.

With this new HAMR technology, the hard disk manufacturer intends to release a 24 TB storage unit in 2021. The price of the hard disk will be significantly higher due to the laser heating diode required.

Seagate CEO Dave Mosley clarifies his goal: “What we believe is that HAMR will be able to store many files so that they are permanently recorded.

If you were thinking of storing all the photos you took for Instagram and ended up uploading only one, you might want to consider purchasing this 24TB hard drive in 2021.
