The Emmy nominee for her role in the series Only Murder in the Building has spoken out many times about the comments she receives about her physique, and now she has done it again. However, this time Selena has not sent a message to those who criticise her, but has dedicated it to herself. Although the singer has confessed that in the past she was very affected by people judging her physique, now she feels proud of herself and is not afraid of criticism.
“Today I realised that I will never look like that again…”, said the actress, showing a bikini photo from years ago and a current one. The performer wanted to be honest with her more than 429 million followers and reflected on how much her body has changed over the years. “I’m not perfect, but I’m proud of who I am…. Sometimes I forget that it’s okay to be me,” Selena confessed via Instagram stories.
Selena considers herself a standard bearer of the ‘body positive’ movement for showing her cellulite, tummy, stretch marks… and her face without filters, demonstrating that she also has imperfections, spots, blemishes… That’s why she ended her speech saying: “I don’t care about my weight because people think about it anyway. You’re too skinny’, ‘you’re too fat’, ‘that doesn’t suit you’, ‘blah blah blah blah blah’…. I’m perfect just the way I am. The moral of the story? Goodbye.
One thing is clear and that is that the body we have when we are 16 is not the same as when we turn 30 and that couldn’t be more normal. As we mature the body changes and this is neither better nor worse, it is a reality, the important thing is to reach the same conclusion that the actress has reached. “I’m not perfect, but I’m proud of who I am”. The singer is also suffering from lupus nephritis: “My medication is important. I prefer to be healthy and take care of myself”.
