In order to make sure that all these interesting projects don’t get lost on our Instagram, every month we choose 6 emerging brands and give them their space on HIGHXTAR. Here are the ones for September 2024!
1. Marie Lueder
Founded in 2019 as a “performative space”, the LUEDER brand explores new identities through influences from London and Berlin, two cities that mark both its design and production. Likewise, its clothing is strongly inspired by the Middle Ages and its armor. The collections stand out for the use of denim, jersey and econylon, with genderless, loose-fitting and oversized silhouettes, and a chromatic palette that evokes natural elements, especially fire in its transformation phases. Handcrafted dyes, developed in collaboration with Tintoria Emiliana, add a distinctive touch, while an innovative “crystallization” technique offers a unique finish to its ruffled bombers.
2. HARRI
Kerala-born, London-based designer HARRI has garnered international attention thanks to his innovative use of latex and his ability to manipulate the material, playing with proportions in unique ways. The designer has become an emerging favorite at LFW, dressing the likes of Tommy Cash and Sam Smith. His brand is one of the most promising in emerging South Asian fashion.
3. Charlie Constantinou
A graduate of Central Saint Martins, Charlie Constantinou designs with extreme weather conditions in mind. His collections combine avant-garde and organic silhouettes that play with volume and structure. One of Constantinou’s hallmarks is his shrink quilting technique, which allows garments to expand or contract to fit the body perfectly. With zipper closures and elastic straps that offer versatility, his clothing fuses cyberpunk with couture, resulting in multifunctional pieces designed to withstand any weather conditions.
4. Martin Myaka
From being a model known for his iconic dreadlocks and unique looks, Martin Mayka has become a designer to keep an eye out for. Having appeared in campaigns for Ugg, Calvin Klein and Levi’s, among others, the Ohio native has established himself as a standard bearer for this new generation of black creatives with his designs. His punk-inspired eponymous brand, along with his increasingly identifiable style and deep political voice, have been gaining global recognition over the past year.
5. masculina
Alectra Rothschild is the mind behind MASCULINA. The Danish clothing brand is all about inclusivity and craftsmanship, and in recent years has made a big impact among fashion Stardom, creating custom looks for the likes of Michéle Lamy, Arca, Yves Tumor and MØ. Alectra is a tailor by training and has studied fashion at Beckmans College of Design, Central Saint Martins and sustainability at The Royal Danish Academy. Before delving into her brand, she interned with designers such as Iris Van Herpen and Anne Sofie Madsen, and landed her first job at Mugler under Casey Cadwallader. She has also done freelance work for Alexander McQueen and a collaboration with Birkenstock.
6. Yaku
YAKU was founded in 2023 by St Albans-born, London-based designer Yaku Stapleton, who graduated from Leeds Beckett and Central Saint Martins. Following the success of his L’Oréal Creative Award-winning master’s collection, Yaku launched his eponymous brand with “The ImPossible Family Reunion in RPG Space” series, inspired by Afro-Futurism and the exploration of sculptural forms and perception. Each piece reimagines a family member as an RPG character in a limitless world. In addition to her main collections, Yaku offers free upcycling workshops and has collaborated with brands such as MSCHF and Nike. His designs often look like video games characters’.
