Shift Robotics, the robotics and engineering company based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, has just unveiled “the world’s fastest shoes”.
The Moonwalkers are battery-powered shoes that help increase walking speed by up to 250%. This is achieved by incorporating a state-of-the-art DC motor, eight polyurethane wheels and a gearbox that drives the superimposed wheels. It also simulates larger diameter wheels to adapt to uneven terrain. Charging takes just an hour and a half and they have a range of up to almost 10 km. They also include a ‘Lock’ mode for climbing stairs.
“Moonwalkers are not skates, they are shoes. The fastest in the world,” says Xunjie Zang, founder and CEO of Shift Robotics.
