SHOOP SS24 shows at Rakuten Fashion Week Tokyo

The story that inspires SHOOP’s Spring-Summer 2024 collection is the image the designers have of Tokyo after moving their base from Madrid.

This collection can be described as the most direct confrontation of his identity and his current vision. For this, SHOOP has chosen the location of the show at Kokuritsu Kyogiyo, Japan’s National Stadium. SHOOP‘s design has always been closely linked to familiar landscapes and realities as seen through the eyes of the designers, as well as the contemplation of unique cultures.

For Yohei Oki and Miriam Sanz, the city of Tokyo is composed of grey, black, white and green colours, among others, and the elements drawn from the city and its people are simplicity, functionality, technology, cleanliness, minimalism and elegance which are reflected in the collection. One of the most unexpected surprises of the show was to see the artist Yung Beef parading for them in Tokyo.

“Gaps” can be discovered in many of the garments in this unisex collection. Tailoring, technical fabrics, denim and knitwear are the line that has shaped SHOOP’s previous collections and has been transformed into the mood of SS24 through a process of purification under the slogan “Tokyo”.

In terms of footwear, SHOOP opts for mules with large holes in leather and denim and football boots. On the graphic side, this time SHOOP pays tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “undercooled” by means of a poem generated through ChatGPT, inspired by his song.

The crackling “Dreamer” makes a double statement about the importance of having dreams and the wish that they don’t become fleeting dreams. On the other hand, the birth of the designers’ daughter Mika in January 2023 has inspired the design of the garments, incorporating details from the baby clothes into the SS24 collection.
