The future of eyewear was unveiled on stage at Google I/O 2026.
Samsung and Google have decided to partner with two of the most sought-after brands in the field of vision technology to design their new smart glasses. The device combines artificial intelligence, premium design and everyday functionality in a format designed to integrate seamlessly into the user’s daily life.
We’re talking about two devices designed to make AI a much more intuitive, unobtrusive and accessible experience, enabling interaction via voice commands as well as a connection to your phone without having to constantly look at the screen. And at the heart of the experience is Gemini, Google’s AI assistant, which is built into the product to offer assistance in all kinds of contexts and activities.
Key features include voice-guided navigation, personalised real-time recommendations, smart message summaries and the ability to add events to your calendar without having to touch your mobile device. It also offers an instant translation service for conversations, with audio adapted to the other person’s voice, visual text translation and the ability to take photos quickly and naturally.
All of this forms part of the Galaxy ecosystem, thereby reinforcing the aim of creating a seamless, connected experience across devices.
This time around, Gentle Monster is opting for more sophisticated silhouettes and a disruptive take on technological design; whilst Warby Parker is bringing its classic, minimalist aesthetic to frames that prioritise comfort and timeless elegance.
