Solange Knowles expands her cultural exploration with the launch of a digital archive. Its aim is to highlight and strengthen African-American and Latino creativity. Saint Heron, the creative agency she founded in 2013 as a space for innovation and community, is now reimagined as a library and cultural institution.
The archive brings together rare, out-of-print works and first editions by African-American and Latino creators. It includes literature, poetry, art catalogues and fanzines. Each piece serves as a testament to critical thought and artistic expression. It is a language that goes beyond the visual and connects with cultural identity.
Access will be free. Readers and creators will be able to interact with materials that are otherwise difficult to find. “As the market and demand for these books, fanzines and catalogues grow, we would like to play a small role in creating free access to the wide range of critical thought and expression of these great minds,” Knowles shared on Instagram.
Saint Heron will offer seasonal collections curated by guest curators. Each rotation will bring new perspectives and experiences. More than an archive, it is an act of cultural preservation by Solange Knowles, recognising the relevance of Black and Latino narratives in contemporary culture.
