The Japanese designer Soshi Otsuki claimed the LVMH Prize 2025 in Paris. The award grants him €400,000 in financial support and one year of mentorship within the luxury giant.

At the helm of his brand Soshiotsuki since 2015, Otsuki has developed a distinctive language rooted in tailoring. His collections rework classic codes from a contemporary perspective. His consolidation now comes with a prize that had already identified him as a talent to watch back in 2016.

The ceremony took place at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, where the designer was recognised by Indian actress Deepika Padukone. The competition brought together eight finalists selected from more than 2,000 applications. Among them were Alain Paul and the duo Danial Aitouganov and Imruh Asha with their brand Zomer, already established on the Paris circuit.

In addition to the main prize, the jury awarded two further distinctions. The Savoir-Faire Prize went to British designer Torishéju Dumi, while the Karl Lagerfeld Prize was awarded to Steve O Smith. Both will receive €200,000 and one year of creative mentorship.

The jury included leading figures such as Jonathan Anderson, Nicolas Ghesquière, Pharrell Williams, Nigo, Phoebe Philo and Sarah Burton, among others.

Over its twelve editions, the LVMH Prize has established itself as a launchpad for new voices. Past winners include Jacquemus, Wales Bonner and Marine Serre. In 2024, Swedish designer Ellen Hodakova Larsson, a reference in upcycling, won the prize, while Duran Lantink—now artistic director of Jean Paul Gaultier—claimed the Karl Lagerfeld Prize in the same year.
