The rumours were true, the Italian designer has been chosen to work with Kim Jones on the collection that will go on sale at the end of this month.
The upcoming ‘Friends of Fendi’ collection will feature the Italian tradition of Stefano Pilati and his unique treatment of tailoring that fits perfectly with the spirit of Fendi, the Rome-based fashion house that has already featured iconic creatives such as Donatella Versace and Marc Jacobs in this initiative.
As Kim Jones himself said in a press release to WWD, “Stefano is a friend, an inspiration and a designer for modern times. Always looking to the future, asking questions and proposing solutions”. To which Pilati responded: “There is a freedom in the Roman style that Milan doesn’t have. It’s a sunnier city where everything is more: more feminine, more masculine, more bohemian and more eccentric”.
The collection will encompass both men’s and women’s garments, all inspired by the Roaring Twenties that celebrate freedom like never before. It will arrive in Fendi boutiques around the world and also on the official website on 26 October. In addition, activations will take place in flagship stores in London, Dubai, New York, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, Chengdu and Hong Kong.
