Nature connects us, and that collective connection between it and us humans is possibly the most evident and necessary affirmation of our existence. Under this premise, Marni creates its new collection ready for summer days, completing it with bags and accessories that are the brand’s best sellers.
This new installment of Marni Jam, which brings together Marni and like-minded entities in a series of creative exchanges, has been co-designed by Francesco Risso, Paloma Elsesser & Alake Shilling in a perfect amalgam of practices that pay homage to the bond between humans and nature.
For those who don’t know, MARNI JAM is a multidisciplinary program that brings together the brand led by Francesco Risso and like-minded entities in a series of creative exchanges. From in-store events to co-designed collections, MARNI JAMS reflects the brand’s willingness to move across different mediums of expression and domains and thus foster broad dialogues with its growing community.
The campaign, captured on the streets of Los Angeles by acclaimed American photographer Colin Dodgson, features model Paloma Elsesser wearing key looks from the collection under the California sunlight. The model, a long-time Marni collaborator, expressed her enthusiasm: “My heart sings at this collision of all our tastes. It is a new expression of Marni’s commitment to see the beauty in everyone, with its size range going up to 56 for the first time. This collection is a reflection of the joy that summer brings: a mix of sweat, sweetness and surrender.”
The collection features the vibrant flora and fauna of Alake Shilling’s artwork in items that come in a variety of shapes, with Marni’s signature creative and playful touch. Open-front dresses, bra tops, swimsuits and towels evoke days at the beach, while shirt-style jackets and coats feature straight cuts more suited to city days. Bomber jackets, blouses and wide skirts float and flow, constantly revealing human skin through cutouts, ruffles and translucent crochet.
The color palette is appropriately earthy and summery, with a combination of white, sand, pale yellow and cocoa, accented by bright notes of leaf green, sunny yellow and sky blue. The materials used in the collection are organic and of lower environmental impact, exploring new paths towards sustainable fashion. Organic cotton, linen and viscose sourced from responsibly managed forests are protagonists, while swimwear is made from recycled lycra and nylon.
On the accessories side we can see Marni’s classic experimentation with shapes and colors: woven raffia hats, other flexible ones with oversized brims and caps, along with circular canvas and leather bags with surreal shapes reminiscent of hoop earrings.
The Marni High Summer 2024 collection is now available worldwide in Marni boutiques, selected retailers and on MARNI.COM.
