Supreme has teamed up with New York art powerhouse, Bernadette Corporation, to launch a special collection of apparel and accessories.
The collective founded by Bernadette Van-Huy, John Kelsey and Jim Fletcher began as a one-night stand at Club USA in 1994, the same year Supreme opened its first store on Lafayette Street. The party was short-lived, but Bernadette Corporation endured and expanded into fashion, magazine publishing and art. The collective created its own fashion label between 1995 and 1997, characterized by a revolutionary spirit; it hired models in the Yellow Pages and produced thief fashion editorials with BC logos as a nod to the Lo-Lives.
Media outlets from The New York Times to i-D began featuring the rebellious brand in their publications, which also launched its own magazine called Made in USA between 1999 and 2001. Bernadette Corporation moved away from fashion after the anti-globalization protests of the G8 summit and the events of 9/11, and began producing documentaries and books such as Get Rid of Yourself and Reena Spaulings, a novel written by 150 anonymous authors.
For this spring 2023, Supreme has connected with the collective to create a new collection of apparel and accessories that reflects their shared history; it offers a tracksuit jacket, a short-sleeve work shirt, a raglan baseball tee, a soccer jersey, sweatpants, chinos, work shorts and two T-shirts. The range of accessories includes nipple clamps, a Spalding basketball and a small towel.
The collection will be available from May 18 on Supreme’s website and its physical stores, and from May 20 in Japan.
In case you missed it, this is the collaboration between Supreme and Clarks Originals SS23.
