The hit HBO series, created by Sam Levinson, will begin filming its third and final season early next year, and Sweeney, couldn’t be more excited to be back on set. ‘I’m so excited to get back into the skin of Cassie. It’s one of my most special characters, and I love my Euphoria family, so I’m looking forward to it,’ she told People magazine.
Cassie’s future promises an intense twist after the season two finale, where we see her in conflict with her sister Lexi (Maude Apatow) following her breakup with Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi). Sweeney expects her character to become even more unleashed. ‘I love unhinged Cassie, so the crazier the better,’ she said.
With the confirmed return of Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, Elordi and Apatow, hype is at an all-time high. However, the series has not been without off-screen drama. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Levinson and Zendaya’s relationship became strained, complicating production after the loss of Angus Cloud and producer Kevin Turen. In addition, Levinson was more focused on his side project, The Idol, something that didn’t sit well with Zendaya.
On the other hand, sources claim that Levinson was unhappy with the constant delays of Euphoria, attributed to Zendaya’s film career taking off. ‘It was all about her,’ a close source revealed. ‘A lot of people wanted to blame Sam, but really, the focus was on her.’
Sydney Sweeney reveals the lurid details of filming her most iconic scene in ‘Euphoria’.
