The agreement between SZA and Vans, set for several years, involves the artist participating in the development of campaigns and special collections, contributing her perspective to the brand’s aesthetic and spirit. Her first work in this role was photographed by Sophie Jones, featuring the monochrome Knu Skool as the focus of the images.
For SZA, her connection with the sneaker brand goes beyond fashion. She aims to show that joy, community, creativity and fashion remain intersectional. The singer also adds that bravery and curiosity are the best response to uncertainty, a spirit that, according to her, Vans fully embodies.
It is not the first time the artist has ventured into footwear; she had previously collaborated twice with Crocs in 2022. However, in this case, it is a deeper and more natural relationship, according to SZA. “I have been wearing Knu Skools for years, and they have always had a philosophy I identify with,” she adds.
Vans define the partnership clearly: “In SZA we see the essence of Off the Wall.” A statement that emphasises the position of the artist as a figure capable of bridging music, culture and fashion, promising a stage full of shared creativity.
