TELFAR presents a new addition to its best-selling handbag line, consolidating its position as one of the most influential fashion brands on the scene today. The brand takes as its starting point an iconic element of everyday New York life: the traditional plastic bag, banned in the city since 2020 as part of an environmental initiative.

Inspired by the classic design of bags bearing the “Thank You For Shopping Here” message, which have been present for decades in bodegas and local establishments, TELFAR reinterprets this common object with a touch of lasting luxury. According to the brand, it is “an eternity of the city’s most iconic disposable silhouette,” transforming a symbol of mass consumption into an accessory with aesthetic and functional value.

The design stands out for its careful construction. Each bag features double lining for durability, gathered elastic handles for an ergonomic grip, tonal stitching for visual consistency, and a spacious interior designed to adapt to an urban lifestyle. Internal organization includes two deep side pockets for water bottles, a zippered pocket for valuables, a quick-access open pocket, and a hidden compartment.

The collection comes in two sizes. The Regular model, priced at $148, is designed to carry a 13-inch laptop along with other essentials. The Jumbo model, priced at $195, has dimensions similar to those of a carry-on bag, ideal for short trips or long days. Both sizes are available in eleven different prints that combine direct references to the original design with contemporary graphic reinterpretations.

Beyond its practical function, this new creation reaffirms TELFAR’s philosophy: to democratize access to quality products, question traditional codes of luxury, and give cultural relevance to objects that are part of the collective imagination. The choice of the plastic bag as inspiration not only evokes the visual identity of New York but also recognizes the importance of the local economy and the influence of street culture on global fashion.

The collection will be available exclusively at TELFAR.net starting August 15. A week later, it will be available at the brand’s flagship store, located at 408 Broadway, New York City.
