The 6 emerging artists you must listen to this month

‘Which emerging artist should we listen to?’ That was the question we asked you on our Instagram profile hoping to meet new promises that would make us vibrate. After receiving many proposals, we discover you 6 artists like every month. Don’t worry if your name doesn’t come up because we will continue with the monthly recommendations.

Lately our Instagram DM is always full of Spotify links that users send us so that we can listen and give coverage to the young promises that are making it big in the national scene. “Tag an emerging artist you consider promising and write the title of one of their best tracks,” we posted on our profile back in the day. In less than 24 hours we received almost 500 comments with the most popular songs of the country. In order to make sure that all these interesting projects don’t get stuck in the DM, we choose 6 artists every month and talk about them and their music.

Le Nomad

Le Nomad, French for “The Nomad”, is a 22-year-old Vietnamese artist, DJ and producer who was born in Paris and grew up in Sao Paulo, Brussels, Bucharest, Athens, Shanghai, Dubai, Bordeaux, Murcia, London and, most recently, Madrid. Throughout his nomadic upbringing, music, skateboarding, surfing and his love for all the arts have facilitated his exposure to diverse social and cultural spheres. Now, the artist presents Xiuyan Road, a song that tells the story of a young man experiencing first love in a foreign country. This song was made following an unexpected phone call that uncovered 7 years of repressed emotions caused by the beautiful disadvantages that a nomadic lifestyle gives you.

Soluna

Soluna is an artist that moves within urban Latin music and a unique futuristic pop, influenced by her Spanish, Argentinean and Angolan origins. Her background is a unique blend of many cultures; something that she has managed to reflect in her music with this mix of musical genres so characteristic. Although she was born in Argentina, her home has always been the Zona Franca, an industrial sector of the city adjacent to the port of Barcelona. This is where she met Sev’s, a close childhood friend and local artist with whom she has collaborated for her latest track Conquistando. An anthem with Spanish influences that mixes afrobeats and trap with the magic of producer Pau Aymí where they celebrate home, friendship and family.

Syd dePalma

Approaching a sound framework in which dark pop, dark wave, some traces of emo and the most brilliant dreampop go hand in hand, the artist Milton Castellar, who for years captained projects like M.A.D. or Galera, now finds the last of his shoe in his new and definitive alter ego: Syd dePalma. After presenting ‘de la isla’ and ‘Amargor’, the artist launches ‘Cielo quemado’, the new advance of what will be his debut album. The connections and blind spots between the lysergic folk-rock of the ’60s and the electronic rock of the next century are some of the keys that illuminates in this “Cielo quemao” that moves between the groove of a rock that can make eyes both Arctic Monkeys and Tame Impala, but in which also inhabit other traditions.

Beatrix Weapons

Beatrix Weapons is one of the most incipient promises of the national avant-garde electronic scene. Experimental music producer, thinker and visual artist, her discourse is presented in the form of melancholic melodies and agitated bpm with the intention of generating translucent and post-harmonic live sets; a multidisciplinary project that captivates the stage relying on IDM, Glitch, Industrial, break and many others. Beatrix has just presented ‘Cuddle’, a melodic-experimental Idm with one of the most outstanding voices of the Asian underground pop circuit, Dove. This would be the second preview of his upcoming EP ‘Celestial Town’.

L’haine

L’Haine is the name of the 1995 French film, but it is also the name of the artistic and musical project of a young man from Logroño. The singer and songwriter moved from La Rioja to Madrid in 2019 and, since then, has released two albums, ‘Autobús Noctámbulo’ (2019) and ‘Patagonia’ (2021) and many singles. This 2023 the artist arrives with ‘De la forma en la forma en que yo quiero’ , a new solo album that features his own productions -in addition to the collaboration of the inseparable Norman Bate$ and those of other reference producers such as PMP Sounds or Iagh0st-, and with something concrete to tell. In the project, L’haine presents a personal journey towards maturity through a universe of his own, tinged with blue.

LVL1

Under the promise of becoming more than just a viral hit on Tiktok, Luli aka LVL1 is much more than a house inspired song with rap lyrics. As part of the music industry’s new voices, she has a lot to say, and others, a lot to hear. It represents the return to the mainstream of ballroom culture, framed in the New York of the eighties, and voguing as a method of expression against the establishment. The artist from Algeciras presents LVL1 presents PLAY, a conceptual work in which she tells us the story of her life “from the time my first single goes viral until I compose the last song on the album”. PLAY’ also shows that LVL1’s relationship with hyperpop is tangential: her gaze is set on the clubs.
