Which emerging artist should we listen to? That was the question we asked you on our Instagram profile hoping to find out about new promises that would make us vibrate. After receiving many proposals, we discovered 6 artists for you as we do every month. Don’t worry if your name doesn’t come up because we will continue with the monthly recommendations.
Lately, our Instagram DMs are always full of Spotify links sent to us by users who want us to listen to and cover the young up-and-comers who are making waves on the national scene. “Tag an up-and-coming artist you think is promising and write the title of one of their best tracks,” we posted on our profile at the time. In less than 24 hours we received almost 500 comments with the most popular songs in the country. So that all these interesting projects don’t get stuck in the DM, we choose 6 artists every month and talk about them and their music.
Jatabo
He started composing at the age of 13 and at 14 he was already releasing his first songs on YouTube. A decade later, the artist had been delighting us for some time with singles such as ‘Mama’, ‘Spicy’ or ‘Ley de Plata’ and this summer he released his first album ‘Young South Rapper’ made up of nine tracks. Young South Rapper is a project that encompasses the work, passion and involvement that comes from leaving all the pre-established moulds behind and committing to a way of life, a culture, and a way of understanding music as a source of inspiration and liberation from any kind of stigma or dogma.
Menend
Born in Madrid, Menend is a young Pop and R&B artist and producer. His latest release “Tiremos la Moneda” was born in 2022 in a songwriting session with J Cruz (composer of “Alocao” by Bad Gyal and Omar Montes among other hit songs), from which came the idea of the chorus. After some time he recovered the initial draft of the chorus and wrote and produced the song, finished off with piano and guitars recorded by Mateo Falgas (composer and artist). This song is the fourth preview of the new album by the singer from Madrid, whose name we still don’t know but we do know that it will be released in June.
Alavedra
Alavedra are duality personified. Shining, vibrant music; acid lyrics, pure irony. The quartet formed by Dani (Daniel Belenguer, Bearoid), Xiri (Oriol Romani), Ret (Albert Rams) and Genis Peña, has released the third preview of what will be their next album. After ‘Feliz a la fuerza’ and ‘Personalidad’, which ventured into new musical terrain for the Catalan band, ‘Chamartín’ is a track in the style that most identifies them; fast and direct pop with surreal lyrics about not aspiring to anything beyond going unnoticed.
Jespfur
Jesper Vervoort (aka Jespfur) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Helmond and currently based in Amsterdam. As a multi-instrumentalist, Jespfur plays and records all instruments and vocals himself. His distinctive blend of art-pop, jazz and instrumental rap is often combined in sound collages that have been performed in various venues and spaces in Europe and the UK. All of his musical output was released through his label and platform FVR (pronounced fur), founded in 2018, until his recent full-length project Pedestrians Of Bright Silence, which was released through New York-based 10k global.
Xiupill
Xiupill is a relentless boyband from Iceland. Their twist on pop and deconstructed club gives the trio total freedom on stage. Pure fuel at the point of ignition. Their latest release is the album ‘Mythology’ consisting of 14 tracks, one of them in collaboration with Adios Adios “Feasting With Panthers”.
Michael Foster
Michael Foster is a Spanish singer and composer of English origin who after developing artistically in his two countries of origin, decides to release his first project in Spanish mixing influences from both cultures. Influenced by the electronic and pop sounds of the 70s, 80s and early 2000s. The artists that have generated the musical creative impulse in the head and heart of Michael Foster are many, but we can see a reflection of the music of Stromae, JUNGLE, ABBA, Rosalía or Ritchie Valens.
