Vault by Vans joins forces with Palm Angels founder and creative director Francesco Ragazzi to pay homage to skateboard culture. The three-piece capsule is a representation of a design approach that celebrates freedom and individuality, all based on the skateboard.
Palm Angels encourages a liberated, construction-free way of being, glorifying the uniqueness of individuals and a personal approach to life, since its inception. The skateboard scene has always been a primary reference for the brand, with roots in the images taken by Francesco Ragazzi and published in 2014, at Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
“I took a photo of a guy skateboarding on Venice Beach, wearing the most vintage Vans Sk8-Hi I had ever seen and since then, the idea of Palm Angels collaborating with Vans has always been on my mind. With this collection I wanted to recreate exactly that same image: models with a vintage feel and a contemporary vision,” says Francesco Ragazzi, creative director of Palm Angels.
The collection has been crafted from meticulously chosen materials featured in the Sk8-Hi VLT LX, Sk8-Mid VLT LX and Old Skool LX. Each style has been reinterpreted with Palm Angels codes: red, grey, white and black, with the Palm Angels logo appearing on the side of the shoe, recreating the iconic Vans Sidestripe.
An old-school feel is given in the campaign imagery of the debut Vault by Vans x Palm Angels collection, where the worn and worn trainers portray a story of spectacular jumps and moves on the skateboard, capturing the effortless style and culture.
The Vault by Vans x Palm Angels collaboration will launch on 27 September exclusively through Palm Angels, followed by a global launch in select Vault by Vans shops on 1 October.
