Through a monumental retrospective, the LV arts and cultural institution pays tribute to the legacy of the American artist.
Rothko was the leading representative of the contemporary Abstract Expressionist movement, along with Pollock. His works have always been characterised by their yearning for an ambitious utopia while expressing all universal emotions. Thus, the artist’s most prominent paintings show rectangular fields of colour floating on the canvas where the boundaries are never defined.

The Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris celebrates his artistic career with the exhibition ‘Mark Rothko’, which will cover his entire career in more than 115 works from different institutions and international private collections. It will open on 18 October 2023 and will run until 2 April 2024.
