Fall is here with the latest trends in haircuts, hairstyles and coloring for this new season. The Morrison cut, Power Bob, Boho Hair, Boyish, Bixie and Wolf Cut are back, but also copper, Chantilly blonde, Golden Brunette, melting highlights and smoky browns. Bangs will be long, and we will see the parting mostly on the side.
The Boyish cut is one of the highlights this fall, a variation on the French garçon look, but with longer, more elongated contours: “We can make it more or less informal with the accessories we use, but it always looks youthful and is quite comfortable. For impeccable maintenance, I recommend a touch-up every six to eight weeks” – explains David Lesur, director of training at the David Künzle salons in Madrid.
Both the Wolf cut and the Power Bob return this fall with few changes. The former is a shoulder-length cut with a very curved contour and frayed ends, although not always. The second is a classic, straight cut at mid-length with no layers.
Paul Tudor, director of the David Künzle Fuencarral salon in Madrid, recommends the Wolf Cut also because it is a cut that requires little and easy maintenance: “It should always be dried with the head down, and a fixing product such as foam or wax should be used to give it texture. The top part should be very short and the back part that reaches the back, longer, so that the difference in volume and layers can be seen. The more tousled, the better”.
Regarding the Power Bob, Lesur defines it as very elegant and flattering if we know how to take advantage of it, for example by styling it with a middle parting to stylize it, or combining it with a straightening: “Its care requires much more attention, it should be treated with shampoos, conditioners and masks, but also with a thermal protector before using the iron, and also using a serum or styling product that gives us a lot of shine”.
Full of revivals
Vintage and hippie are back with the Morrison cut and Boho Hair, but also the Bixie, which has been one of the most prominent cuts so far in 2024: “The Morrison is a curly hairstyle that reaches shoulder length and has more volume on the sides, looking great on sharp faces and elongated or oval faces because it harmonizes and softens the features”.
“Regarding the bixie, we understand its success because it brings freshness and nonconformity to a look, perfectly merging the bob cut with the pixie. For its part, boho hair will always be present, no matter what year it is or what season it is, it is a completely timeless style in which unbraided braids and loose strands with all kinds of accessories such as scarves, bows or headbands reign supreme.”
Shades and melting strands
A tone as sweet and delicate as Chantilly blonde will be the perfect contrast to others such as smoky browns and Golden Brunette highlights. The copper look in all its forms and versions will be another must this fall, along with the melting highlights also known as melting, transition from a dark tone to a lighter one along the hair, blurring in a subtle way.
“What is achieved is an imperceptible and difficult to detect gradient, very appropriate for all types of natural bases and people who do not want a very radical change. It is preferable that it is done with a brush, since we are not looking for very powerful tones, but a more global lightening. The result is a reflection along the length of the mane that is lost in the mane” – says Paul Tudor, director and first stylist at David Künzle Fuencarral.
