One of the most eagerly awaited events of the year, it featured countless stars.
The most important sporting event of the year kicked off last Friday with great artists such as Lady Gaga, Aya Nakamura and Céline Dion, who chose to wear spectacular haute couture outfits by the Maison designed exclusively by Maria Grazia Chiuri for the occasion.
The Queen of Pop kicked off the Opening Ceremony with a tribute to French cabaret with a spectacular performance on Place Barye. Her version of Mon truc en plumes by Zizi Jeanmaire wowed an expectant audience who vibrated to the rhythm of the number devised in 1961 by acclaimed choreographer Roland Petit. Not to mention the spectacular Maison custom she wore, which showed the marvellous dialogue between art and Haute Couture.
Aya Nakamura took over the French capital’s pont des Arts to the rhythm of a stirring medley of her most iconic tracks ‘Pookie’ and ‘Djadja’, crowning herself once again as an international superstar while wearing an ensemble consisting of a corset and an asymmetric short dress sewn with hand-embroidered golden feathers by the artisans of Lemarié and belonging to the Haute Couture 2024-2025 collection.
The Canadian singer, who took advantage of the special occasion to perform Édith Piaf‘s Hymne à l’amour from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, stole the show in one of the most iconic moments of the evening. Her white silk georgette gown, embroidered with a hypnotic gradation of sequins and magnified by over five hundred metres of fringe studded with thousands of silver pearls glittering to the rhythm of her performance, elevated her as the most dazzling star of the show. A true work of art behind which lies more than a thousand hours of work in the Dior atelier.
