Originally launched in 1999, the iconic Puma Mostro made its mark on the 2000s aesthetic at the time and this 2024 is set to make its big comeback.
Named after the Italian word for monster, the Mostro is a bold hybrid creation that draws inspiration from two distinct sporting worlds: the sleek but tough sprint shoes of the ’60s and the laid-back surf shoes of the ’80s.
This iconic Puma silhouette boasts key features such as its spiked sole and versatile strap fastening. With maximum flexibility and comfort, the Mostro is a design that’s absolutely tailored for humans but also for monsters alike. For the new year, they arrive with a mesh upper, PUMA Formstrip overlay in metallic silver, as well as an elasticated strap fastening and lycra lining.
For its launch, Puma has run a campaign in New York captured by photographer Chris Maggio. The campaign showcases Mostro through the everyday lives of New Yorkers who embody the roles of two iconic New York characters: the Gen-Z trendsetter and the tourist. Like the Mostro itself, these unexpected and daring characters aim to set themselves apart from the rest.
Debuting in a light grey and yellow colour combination, the PUMA Mostro will be available at select retailers around the world including Dover Street Market, Slam Jam, VooStore, Kith, The Broken Arm, LN-CC, END. Clothing and WORKSOUT from 13 January 2024.
