The KHAITE woman is Lynchian

Cate Holstein returned to the Park Avenue Armory to present her Fall 2025 collection, which is loaded with deep meaning.

The 25-metre radius circular catwalk invited those present to enter a universe that, according to the designer herself, evoked the mythical yellow brick road of ‘The Wizard of Oz’. However, beyond the references to the work of Lyman Frank Baum, who really served as inspiration for a collection marked by mystery, darkness and ambiguity was the great David Lynch.

The interplay of shapes and textures was as mesmerising as it was functional. The looks, dazzling and dramatic, showed a fresh approach to leather through calfskin and rawhide jackets that were adapted to a variety of shapes and styles. From the rugged working man to the rebellious biker, not to mention aviator chic.

The corset also takes a new approach: far from being a rigid garment, they are presented as sculptural pieces of elastic mesh, with soft underwires and a variety of materials. They are combined with cashmere T-shirts, opera gloves and low-waisted trousers, with the aim of creating seductive looks typical of the New York femme fatale.

However, comfort plays a key role in part of the collection, recalling the fast pace of the urban routine and offering casual ensembles in the form of relaxed shirts, cosy cardigans and oversized coats.

All this under an enveloping soundtrack that raised the atmosphere to another level to the rhythm of Marilyn Manson‘s ‘I put a spell on you’ mixed with Smashing Pumpkins‘Luna’, turning every step into a statement of power.
