The Lyst Index report for the first quarter of 2023 is now available, led by Prada and Miu Miu, with the rise of Versace, and dramatic declines for Gucci and Balenciaga. JW Anderson in the top 20 is one of the new additions.
The Lyst Index rankings position brands and fashion items according to their popularity each quarter, based on a formula that considers buying habits and conversion and sales rates, as well as Google search data and social media mentions.
In this first quarter of 2023, Prada tops the list for the second consecutive season. In second place is Miuccia’s other jewel, Miu Miu, which reaches its highest position to date thanks to its Fall/Winter 2023 runway show and some of its latest successful launches. It is followed by Moncler, which remains in the same position as last year; and then Valentino, LOEWE, Bottega Veneta and Dolce & Gabanna. In eighth position is Versace, and this is one of the biggest growths of the quarter, up five places thanks to its celebrity-studded FW23 runway show.
After dropping seven places, in ninth position is Gucci, whose drop may have to do with Alessandro Michele’s departure and the lack of a creative director for a while. Closing the top 10 is Saint Laurent.
Respectively, from 11th to 20th are Dior, Nike, Louis Vuitton, Diesel, Burberry, Fendi, SKIMS (which enters the Lyst Index for the first time), Balenciaga (which drops seven places due to recent controversies), Jacquemus, and JW Anderson, which is also a newcomer.
It figures in the Lyst Index that “Jonathan Anderson is the third creative director to be at the helm of two of the hottest brands in the Lyst Index in the same quarter, following in the footsteps of Virgil Abloh and Miuccia Prada.”
Also in the rankings are the hottest products of the moment: the UNIQLO shoulder bag at the top spot, followed by Rick Owens’ Kriester sunglasses, Diesel’s denim maxi skirt, Weekday’s Astro Loose Baggy Jeans, adidas’ Gazelle, Bottega Veneta’s drop earrings, Alaïa’s Le Coer bag, MSCHF’s famous Big Red Boots and MM6 Maison Margiela’s Salomon collaboration.
It’s a good time to remember Prada FW23, a reinterpretation of the concept of beauty.
