The collaboration is made up of a selection of garments and different elements such as basketballs and table and ping pong paddles that reflect the colourful spirit of Mira Mikati and the characters of Javier Calleja.
If Mira Mikati is known for anything, apart from her love of colour, it’s for her collaborations, which until now have paired her with internationally renowned artists such as KAWS, Mr and Jack Pierson. After her first collection with Javier Calleja, now comes the second collaboration where the Spanish artist brings his fantasy world to Happy House. The fruit of this meeting between two fun-loving artists like Mira and Javier, with their positive and colourful vision of life, has not only been a new friendship, but also a common aesthetic.
The collection, which will be released in June, will coincide with Calleja’s first solo exhibition at the Almine Rech gallery in London. On one side of the city, nearly twenty new Calleja works on paper and canvas will be on view; on the other, at Happy House, his iconic big-eyed characters will be featured on hand-knitted cushions, basketballs, knitwear, sweatshirts and outerwear, not forgetting Mira Mikati’s must-have bomber jacket. Other highlights include a customisable jumper with velcro fastenings that can be changed depending on the mood, various pyjamas and, as an accessory, crocheted dolls.
Designer Mira Mikati says: “Javier Calleja’s art was the catalyst that inspired me to design this fun and playful capsule collection. To which Calleja himself adds, summing up the experience of working on the unisex line: “It’s been like a dream! In these collaborations I sometimes have the impression that the others put more into them than I do.
Mira Mikati and Javier Calleja’s second collection is now available here.
Javier Calleja collaborates with the jewellery brand Rod Almayate.
