The latest publication from Baron Books, entitled ‘Helmut Lang Archive Dispersed by Joakim Andreasson‘ exclusively features the pieces that were almost lost.

The book recalls the fire in New York’s SoHo that almost destroyed Lang‘s archive. The tragedy, which took place in 2010, was a critical point in the brand’s history. Joakim Andersson, who worked alongside the designer from 2004 to 2021, recalls that “the day after the fire the building was completely blocked. The space that housed the clothing archive had a big hole in the floor and clothes were scattered all over the place, engulfed by fire and even thrown out of the windows. Thousands of garments were soaked in water and covered in ash. It was overwhelming to think about how to start the recovery process”.

Now, he documents the event through a visual dialogue of rescued pieces that he collects in the limited edition publication. You can order it now through Baron Books.
