Josiah Wedgwood began developing the renowned jasper dinnerware in 1770. The company that bears his name, Wedgwood, has been producing these valuable and delicate creations ever since. Now, Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY has connected with Wedgwood to leave his legacy in a new collaboration, where traditions are taken and given a surprising twist.
We got a sneak peek of the collaboration during Charles Jeffrey LOVERBOY’s recent Spring/Summer 2024 runway show at Milan Fashion Week, with jasper pieces decorating dresses, armor and atypical gloves. But the official collaboration is not considered mythical, offering homeware items that feature Jeffrey’s distinctive calligraphy and bold application of color.
The proposal includes a teapot, teacup and saucer, sugar bowl, milk jug and plate in the classic Wedgwood light blue hue, splashed with hand-glazed paint. Traditional Wedgwood floral appliqués emerge below in white, warping over the paint and scribbles.
“Collaborating with Wedgwood has been an incredible journey that has allowed us to fuse music, art and craft into a bold and transformative experience. Not only did we have the opportunity to reimagine Wedgwood’s iconic jasper dinnerware, but also to infuse it with our own distinctive creative voice,” the designer commented on the project.
Music has also played an important role in this collaboration. The multifaceted designer teamed up with Robert Fox and Tom Furse to create a mod-inspired music video.
The collaboration is now available for purchase through the Wedgwood website, where the main products, as well as many variations and original artwork, can be found.
Moreover, YUME YUME and Thier & van Daalen present a collection of designer shelves.
